Venues

ICFG 2026 will take place in Darmstadt and the surrounding region, with the plant tours located close to Darmstadt. As a technology-driven city shaped by TU Darmstadt and a strong network of research institutes and high-tech companies, Darmstadt offers an authentic setting where scientific excellence and industrial application meet. The venues are positioned within short distances of one another, making it easy for participants to move efficiently between conference locations, hotels, and networking events.

Darmstadt

Darmstadt is a compact, well-connected science city in the Frankfurt Rhine-Main region, combining strong research credentials with an accessible urban layout. Luisenplatz with the “Langer Ludwig” column marks the central meeting point and a recognisable symbol of Darmstadt. The city’s cultural highlight is the Mathildenhöhe, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its distinctive Art Nouveau ensemble and panoramic viewpoints. Around Karolinenplatz, visitors will find the Hessisches Staatsarchiv, while the Hessian State Library reflects Darmstadt’s long-standing academic tradition. Shaped by TU Darmstadt and its surrounding institutes, the city offers a credible and inspiring setting for exchange between research and industry.

Further highlights include the Staatstheater Darmstadt for performing arts, the historic Residential Palace (Schloss Darmstadt), and the colourful Waldspirale (Hundertwasserhaus), one of the city’s most distinctive architectural landmarks.

TU Darmstadt and PtU

TU Darmstadt is one of Germany’s leading technical universities and a key driver of research and innovation in the Rhine-Main region, particularly in engineering and manufacturing sciences.

The Institute for Production Engineering and Forming Machines (PtU) is a flagship centre for forming technology and production engineering and will serve as a central venue for ICFG 2026. Founded in 1976 as the Institute for Forming Technology (IfU) and renamed in 1989, the institute has been led since 1999 by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Dipl.-Wirtsch.-Ing. Peter Groche. At its Lichtwiese campus, the PtU operates an extensive experimental field with test rigs and machine tools, supported by an on-site mechanical workshop that enables tooling and experimental set-ups to be manufactured directly in-house. Research and teaching are organised across four divisions: Process Chains and Systems, Profile Technology, Tribology, and Functional and Composite Design, providing a strong setting for conference sessions, workshops, and technical exchange.

Conference hotel: PREMIUM Plaza Darmstadt

The official conference hotel is PLAZA Premium Darmstadt. This is where participants will stay during the conference, and it will also host one conference day including catering.
