The International Cold Forging Group (ICFG) has been the world’s leading platform for professional exchange and international cooperation in the field of cold forging since its foundation in 1967. Originating from an OECD expert group and closely linked to the scientific community of CIRP, ICFG brings together industry, research, and development with the goal of sustainably advancing the economic and technological progress of cold forging.

"Dear ICFG members, colleagues, and friends,
It is my great pleasure to announce that the 59th ICFG Plenary Meeting will be held in Darmstadt, Germany. The last Plenary Meeting in Darmstadt took place in 2010, and it is truly meaningful for us to return to this historic city after 16 years. Considering that the tradition of passing the ICFG torch candle stand originated in Darmstadt, this city holds a very special place in the history of ICFG.
We are very much looking forward to a rich and exciting program, including the industry–academia subgroup meetings, keynote lectures, the General Assembly, and Young Scientist Exchange Program (YSEP). I would like to express my sincere appreciation to Prof. Groche and his organizing staff for their tremendous efforts in making this meeting possible.
I very much look forward to meeting you all in person in Darmstadt!"
- Prof. Dr. Eng. Yoshinori Yoshida
(President, International Cold Forging Group, ICFG)
"Digitalisation opens up new perspectives for efficiency, quality, and sustainability in cold forging. The ICFG Plenary Meeting 2026 provides a unique platform to discuss current developments, innovative approaches, and practical solutions together."
- Prof. Dr.-Ing. Dipl.-Wirtsch.-Ing. Peter Groche
(Head of Institute for Production Engineering and Forming Machines, PtU)

Darmstadt
Darmstadt is a strong choice for a technology focused conference, shaped by TU Darmstadt and a dense network of research institutes and high-tech companies. Located within the Frankfurt Rhine-Main region, it is easy to reach internationally via Frankfurt Airport while remaining compact and efficient on site. Short distances between the venue, hotels, and evening networking options help participants make the most of the programme. The city offers a setting where scientific excellence and industrial application meet in a very practical way. This is particularly relevant for manufacturing themes, including materials behaviour, process simulation, data driven quality assurance, and robust production systems. For sessions on cold bulk forming, Darmstadt provides credible links to modern forming technology, metrology, and validation approaches. Overall, Darmstadt supports focused exchange between research and industry, strengthening the conference content with an authentic innovation environment.
